Restoring a Smile After Dental Trauma with Dental Implants
Dental trauma can occur suddenly and often requires immediate attention. With modern techniques and careful treatment planning, even severe dental injuries can be successfully treated.
At Smile Spectrum Dental, Viren Patel recently helped restore a young patient’s smile after a serious dental injury involving three front teeth.

The Emergency Visit
A young man in his early twenties arrived at the clinic following a facial injury. He had a bruised lip and significant discomfort, and an examination revealed fractures in three of his front teeth.
After reviewing diagnostic images, Dr. Patel determined that one tooth had a severe root fracture and could not be saved. The remaining two teeth were fractured but had healthy roots, allowing them to be treated and restored.

Treatment Plan
To restore the patient’s smile and function, a comprehensive treatment plan was developed that included:
- Extraction of the severely fractured tooth
- Immediate dental implant placement
- Temporary denture to maintain appearance during healing
- Root canal therapy for two injured teeth
- Custom dental crowns to restore strength and aesthetics
- Final implant crown after healing

The Result
The implant was placed on the same day as the extraction to preserve the bone and maintain the natural gum shape. A temporary denture ensured the patient did not leave the clinic with a missing tooth.
Over the next three months, the implant successfully integrated with the jawbone. Once healing was complete, a custom implant crown was placed to restore the tooth.
Today, the patient’s smile looks natural and fully functional, allowing him to return to everyday life with confidence.

Advanced Care for Dental Emergencies
Dental trauma often requires multiple procedures working together to achieve the best results. By combining implant dentistry with restorative treatments, patients can regain both function and confidence after significant injuries
